New plans for The Dingo and Dingobi Publications

Things are going great with the upcoming live show, ``Dingo Boogaloo 2,'' dropping July 7-17 at Comedy Sportz in Rock Island.

BUT... it's also a ton of work to produce, direct, write and act in a live show. Sooo...

I'm going to be changing the publication schedule for Dingobi Productions this year.

Whereas before I was going to be putting out four new issues of the Dingo in 2005, at this point I think I'm going to shoot for three issues. That's still one more issue than the usual two-a-year, so we're expanding. But not as much as originally planned.

The next issue of The Dingo, #6, will be out in JULY. It will be released concurrently with ``DB2,'' and will contain the ``DB2'' script in its entirety, as well as script submissions which didn't make the cut for the live show due to space considerations or other factors. There were a few scripts I wrote, as well as bits others wrote, that didn't make the cut because I wanted to keep the show down to about two hours max. Also, there were some fun sketches that we couldn't do because we didn't have the budget for the costumes and set designs, and I thought the sketches would suffer without those acoutrements. But since I liked the material, it'll make it into the issue.

The seventh issue of The Dingo will be released in the fall. It will be a ``Best of The Dingo'' issue, featuring stories from the previous six issues. It will also be a double-sized issue. Whereas the usual Dingo runs about 130 pages, Dingo #7 will likely go into the 200 page range. The cover price will be jacked up to reflect that. So where a regular ish of Dingo is $12, the Best Of is probably going to be $17-19.

Also, the debut novel on the Dingobi imprint, ``Prom Is Gonna Rock This Year!'' by Jason Tanamor, has also been postponed until the fall. It's a great book and I know you're all going to enjoy it, but at this point I don't have the time in my schedule to give it the attention it deserves, and, actually, neither does Jason. So we're going to look at putting that one out some time in fall, probably to coincide with homecoming dances and such.

Speaking of the fall, I'm putting together a possible Chicagoland book tour around that time. I'll be signing copies of The Dingo as well as my solo books. More info on that as it unfolds.

As for signings that are already set, I'll be at Waldenbooks in SouthPark Mall, Moline, June 18 and July 16, from 2 to 4 p.m. Come on down, grab some hilarious books and say hey.

So there's where we're at right now. For more updates on ``DB2'' check out www.myveronaproductions.com and http://myveronablog.blogspot.com.

Hope everyone is having a happy, healthy and creative spring and hope it continues on into summer.

Best,

Sean

Great signings last month

Great signings last month. Every weekend in April I was at a different store, scribbling my name, chatting up passerby and trying to get the books out there in front of new faces.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by to say hi, throw out some kind words, and of course, purchase a book or two.

At this point, I'm two copies away from selling out the first print run for the graphic novel, ``Exorcising Ghosts;'' three copies away from selling out the third print run for ``Greatest Hits, volume two;'' and a handful of copies away from being totally out of Dingo #3 and 4. Still got plenty of copies of the brand new Dingo #5 left, so don't be shy if you're looking to pick one up.

The sketch show is crankin' away. I finished up another new sketch today crossing the Pissing Calvin phenomenon with the John 3:16 thing. Yeah, definitely fun for the whole family.

Also, looking at setting up a late summer-early fall tour of bookstores in the Chitown area. Naperville, Aurora, St. Charles, Downers Grove, etc. But for now, and for the next few months, I'm going to be working non-stop on all the theater shows, books, etc.

All for now. Later...

New Dingo Boogaloo info

Great book signings so far on the ``Dingo Spring 2005 Tour.'' I was at Borders two weeks back and Barnes and Noble last weekend. This Saturday, April 30, I'm at Waldenbooks, SouthPark Mall, Moline, from 2 to 4 p.m. If you get the chance, stop by, say hi and grab yourself a copy of The Dingo #5.
Work on the live show this summer, ``Dingo Boogaloo 2: Taco's Revenge'' is coming along very well. I'm almost done with the script and anticipate having it all ready to roll by early next week. I'm going to really hammer away at it this weekend to get it good to go for our cast meeting on May 7.
On the producer's side of things, I've been working on various advertising, publicity, promotion, posters, etc. as well as working to set up the video shoot (for the film scenes in ``DB2.'') That's involving lining up all the actors, locations, props, costumes, etc. We're still needing some extras. I'm thinking it might be time to send out another press release to the media to garner some more actors looking to make the film shoot.
I'm sure it'll all get worked out. It's just a matter of putting in the work, getting it done and pretty much ignoring food and sleep for a while... :-)

Welcome to the pack!

Hi guys, and welcome to The Dingo Pack, the blogspot for The Dingo, the national humor magazine. I'm not sure yet exactly where this will go or what it will end up becoming, but what the hell, let's rumble right into it and see where it leads.

Yeah, sure, The Dingo Pack will have info about the magazine, the upcoming Dingo live sketch show and Dingo comedy movies and videos. But it will also just feature random ramblings on pop cultural life and what not by yours truly.

Hopefully this will be entertaining for me as well as you. Or vice versa. Whatever. Bookmark us, as well as the usual sites: www.dingobi.com, www.dingoonline.com and www.myveronaproductions.com, and check liberally to see if there's anything new, interesting and world-shattering. Or at least world-teetering.

Later,
Sean
